I.
There are these...
...black spots in the sun room
They call it rising damp but
I know it better as
Sinking malevolence.
You think you know
All about that metaphor
And seek to deconstruct it
So that it makes more sense on the way up.
[Because it sure beat you on the way down
Like you were some sort of slave,
Traded to high seas and stupid warlords]
II.
“Ah how shameless –
the way these mortals blame the gods...
...they themselves,
with their own reckless ways,
Compound their pains beyond their proper share.”
The Odyssey.
When the time comes
I wish to depart this world
As I entered it
Without cloth to adorn my back
Or coin to line my eyelid
For objects are only burden
The weight of them a sinker
Tensile tethered to my ankles.

I reeaally love this piece! ... Beautiful as always, Missy.
Wonderful, Missy, and especially part 2, which I absolutely love. Mirrors my sentiments exactly. "Naked I came into the world, and naked I shall return." The Odyssey selection is also great.
